Awesome

Excellent app! A must for anyone going into the backcountry.

Great App!

This is a great app! I have been waiting for an app like this that is useful and easy to navigate. Really great information with pictures! The text walks you through every outdoor scenario and tells you exactly what to do in each situation. This is my go to app when I am outdoors! Well worth the $ to buy it, it really could save your life!

Great Pocket Resource

Just completed my first Wilderness First Aid course from The Center for Wilderness Safety and found this app that appears to be consistent with what I learned and appears to be well organized. Ill still keep a hard copy book handy but in case iPhone battery runs out but this is sure to be a handy quick access guide!

Very accurate, easy to use resource

First: if you havent taken a wilderness medicine course, DO NOT use this app, because it assumes you have that knowledge. Otherwise, I HIGHLY recommend this app. I wanted something that was easy to carry around wherever I went to help if I get stuck with a more obscure case. This app is superb, and has all the topics and information covered in my textbook. I actually believe this app may have been taken verbatim from the textbook. That being said, there are lots of things in the app that are guidelines, and it does not go into the in-depth reasoning behind treatments, because it is meant as a guide for people who have already completed advanced medical classes. DO NOT USE THIS APP IF YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN A WILDERNESS MEDICINE COURSE.

Excellent first aid tool

Protocols are plentiful and simple to use. There is a quick-access CPR tool that looks like it would be an excellent guide to use during an actual emergency. I really like the assessment tool. It is a good reminder from 1st aid class.

Awesome app

Very helpful tips consolidated into a very easily understood instructional book like app. This app provides the CPR rhythm using the vibration on your phone just in case you arent certified in CPR and you are in a situation where you have to perform it.

Correct but brief

The app agrees with the 134 page, 2006 "Wilderness First Aid Field Guide" by the Emergency Care and Safety Institute, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and Boy Scouts of America.... and the related class I just finished. I didnt find any conflicting protocols. But it only contains about a third of the topics and depth of info and no prevention advice as the pocket-sized book ($20 new, $2 used). Many pdfs can be found free online of similar books. This app supplements, complements the free American Red Cross First Aid and SOAP report taking app. Given this app will likely be available to the user far more than the book, the app is worth the price given its content (compared to other apps) and ease of use (compared to pdf files).

Great app!

In addition to standard first aid info you see in other apps, it includes symptoms that dictate when to evacuate, which is important in a wilderness situation. Also has a practical step by step CPR guide that when started, vibrates your phone every time you should be doing a compression. Its started with two taps and you put it in your pocket or whatever and compress for each vibration. The pace of compressions seem to be a challenge for many. Overall some of the images in the various topics are a little hard to read. Looks like scans from a book and even when enlarged some text is tiny and a little rasterized. However the images are supplemental and the core info is very clear to read in simple, large text.
